eighteen under 18: The Best and Brightest of Ashtabula County
When: Thursday, April 24, 2025
Where: Sheldon Calvary Camp
In partnership with the Gazette Newspapers, JA's 3rd annual eighteen under 18 awards event honors the most extraordinary young people in Ashtabula County. This event will showcase the county's young leaders who show an exceptional entrepreneurial spirit, and an overall impressive skill set. The eighteen nominees will be featured in the Gazette Newspapers, the JAEO website, and honored during a special ceremony at Sheldon Calvary Camp where they can network with local community and business leaders.
Nominees must attend school in Ashtabula County (Ohio) and be between the ages of 10 to 18. Nominees must also be able to attend the eighteen under 18 reception event at Sheldon Calvary Camp in Conneaut on April 24, 2025. Involvement in JA programs is not required; however, involvement in JA programs is considered favorably during the evaluation process. Characteristics and accomplishments to take into consideration are:
1. Innovative Spirit- a student who possesses:
-Initiative to meet a defined problem/need for a group or customer through a solution-oriented approach
-An innovative mindset that encourages creative thinking, experimentation, and tolerable risk
2. Leadership- a student who possesses:
-Leadership Skills
-Team Work
-Ethics
3. Community/School Involvement- a student who possesses:
-Sense of caring for and about others
-Volunteerism
-Community Awareness
The deadline for nominations is February 28, 2025.
